Hip Kit Club Love You

Do you ever make a page and then look at it once it's all completed, and think, "why did I do that?" That's what happened with this layout... Overall it's totally fine!  But when I look at the details I wish I had showed some restraint.

My biggest problem seems to be gesso; when I start laying it on the page I end up using entirely too much and have way too big of a gesso area.

I should have held back and used the gesso only on the top 1/3 of the page, or not at all.  I was worried the Dazzlerz wouldn't show up enough on the navy background.  Hello?  Bright pink Dazzlerz will always show up against navy.  So to scale back the white gesso I added some Shimmerz paints which did not show up like I wanted.  Ugh.  Live and learn, right?

What I do love is the partially heat embossed veneer items.  I used Versamark and Ranger Super Fine Gold embossing powder to get that look, adding tangled thread for additional gold and texture on the page.  I also adore the exclusive Hip Kit Club stencil!  I flicked some Navy Color Shine and Gold Color Shine to finish the page.

Hip Kit Club Good Vibes

Hello friends!  Another mixed media layout for you today, featuring the February Hip Kit Club main kit and some mixed media items from my stash.

When I made this page I was not going to use any mixed media stuff on it; once I had everything glued down the photo area felt a little naked, so I added some Shimmerz Dazzlerz from my stash and just swiped it on with a palette knife.

Spray ink in gold and black completed the page.  That Pink Paislee cut apart sheet and die cut pack is so fab!  I used both on all my pages made with the kit.

Hip Kit Club You 2 Together

Hello!  This is my first layout created with a kit from Hip Kit Club!  I decided to subscribe after purchasing their color kit a few times, and got my February kit earlier this week.

Such a great mix of items in the main kit, I think the cut apart sheet from Pink Paislee is the most used from the kit.

This photo has been scrapped before, I'm sure, but I really wanted to use the 5x7 on a layout. Because it's a black and white photo I could take the page any which way, so I used pops of pink and teal with a hint of yellow.

I used white gesso to start my page, then added in Shimmerz paints as a color wash.  Black spray ink flicked on the page finished this layout.

Gossamer Blue Valentine

Hello!  We had a really awesome Valentine's Day party for our local MOMS Club earlier this month.  One of the hosts, my fab friend Sasha, came up with this super cute photo booth idea.  I've got many cute photos from this party, but my friend Shannon captured this precious pic of our kiddos.

The paper and embellishments are from Gossamer Blue January kits (the Add-on Kit #2 and Main Add-on are still available!).  I used a stencil and gold Heidi Swapp texture paste from the Hip Kit Club January Color Kit (out of stock) for the background, adding in Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick for a mixed media vibe.

How did you celebrate Valentine's Day?  The hubs and my girly received several new books, and I got to pick out my own--Shimmerz Paints!  Woo-hoo!

Gossamer Blue Inspiration Blog Hop

Hello and thanks for following along on the Gossamer Blue Blog Hop!  We are celebrating February's lovely kits and I have a layout made with all Basic Grey items from the Bits & Pieces kit, Main Add-on Kit and Add-on Kit #2.

I printed my photos about 2x2 inches and matted them with papers from the 6x6 pad in the Bits & Pieces kit.  After figuring out the photo arrangement I added in chipboard and wood veneer pieces from Add-on Kit #2.  I heat embossed the wood veneer to kick them up a notch :)

I used some black and gold spray inks from my stash on the background paper to tie in the gold on the veneer pieces and the black alphas in the title.  I wanted to use the Basic Grey alphas in the kits but I had used up too many of them already!  Dang it!  They would have been a perfect fit.

I added a few pieces of the Dear Lizzy gold washi here and there for some additional gold details.

Gossamer Blue Sweet Adventure

Hello!  I've got another Gossamer Blue February kits share today! This layout was created with the Main Add-on, Bits & Pieces and Life Pages Main Add-on kits.

I started by matting my photos with several of the Basic Grey pattern papers, then added the Heidi Swapp foil word over the photos.  I embellished with one of the Basic Grey flair badges then added a few Heidi Swapp labels around the photos.  I added the Basic Grey sequins plus some Color Shine in Black Velvet and Gold on the background paper.

I gotta give a shout out to my friend Rebekah for taking these great pics of the kids when we went a family sushi date!

Gossamer Blue Smile Always

Hi Everyone!  I created this layout using February kits from Gossamer Blue.  I used items from the all three scrapbook kits plus the Life Pages Themed Add-on.

I fussy cut florals from one of the Basic Grey papers to mat my photo, embellishing with the gold foil doily and some Heidi Swapp labels and stickers.  Some thread from my stash backs the Fancy Pants flair.  To add some additional gold to the layout I tore strips of the Dear Lizzy washi and placed it along the top and bottom of the page.

Isn't this the sweetest photo of the girly and her Nana?  This was taken on one of Miss Q's many adventures at Camp Nana-Grampy :)

Gossamer Blue February Reveal

Hello and Happy Reveal Day!

My first layout share with the February 2016 kits is a mixed media Main Kit only layout.  The exclusives for February are the best.  The wood veneer hearts are so pretty!

I apologize that you can't read the Heidi Swapp labels all that great in the photo, it's darn near impossible to shoot gold foil in the winter light!  

To get the mixed media vibe I used gesso, gold gelato and Abandoned Coral Distress Ink, smooshed right onto the background.  The Fancy Pants flair and some thread from my stash gives the page some texture and dimension.  

I want to give a HUGE shoutout to the talented, creative genius, Traci Reed!  The Gossamer Blue exclusive cut files for February are pretty much the best ever.  I created my title using one of Traci's designs.
