Project 12 September

|
I finally finished my Life Pages for September.  Finally.  I started these pages at Craft Night with my girlfriends and then ran out of steam when doing the insert.  But now it's done and while I'm still in the mood, I'll go ahead and work on the October pages.

Here's the left and right sides, featuring September Life Pages kits from Gossamer Blue:

My mama's birthday, lots of sunglasses selfies and tiny moments with my girly.

The insert is all about our visit to an awesome pumpkin patch.  I used October kits for a pumpkin theme.  That LP card with Veni Vedi Amavi was probably my favorite in the October LP kits.  The sequins are from the September kits.

I didn't do as much embellishing on the photos for the insert because a)  I wanted to get this done and b)  the photos are pretty self-explanatory :)

That's a wrap for September P12!

Right Now

|
So I'm sitting here on this rainy day in Kansas and thinking about all the fun projects I'll be doing in the future.  What I should be doing is working on fun projects due right now, but instead I choose to dream of things I want to do and plan to do and basically ignore my current to-do.

I cleaned the bathroom this morning so I deserve a little bit of daydreaming, right?

I currently do Project 12 Life Pages and use Gossamer Blue kits for completing my pages.  I love the cards we get each month in the kits because there are standard 3x4 and 4x6 sizes but in the last few months Lori started including 2x2 and 4x4 cards which basically made me do a happy dance.  I've mentioned before that I want to change my 2016 format and finally committed to using 6x12 after finding the blush and gold Teresa Collins albums on sale at Joann.  I purchased two, because what if I run out of room???  And I'm glad I did because now I can't find them online.  I plan to do some page protector hacks using my Fuse tool, simply cutting/fusing down the side to make any 12x12 pocket page into a 9x12.  I seem to have an over-abundance of LP page protectors so now I'll use them up.  Hooray!

I'm planning a week-long free class here on the Creating Us blog.  I haven't ironed out the details yet but I know the project I want to do and I'm feeling much more confident with my videos, so now I want to do some giving back to all you fab party people who read the blog and have a free class!  I've really enjoyed working on the Delight in the Details class at GB and want to build off the momentum I've got going with vids, so look for that sometime after the first of the year.

One of my all-time favorite projects is coming up soon.... December Memories.  I love mini pocket page albums and this year Gossamer Blue went all out with another amazing kit.  I've noticed a few of my DT members are already diving in to the project but I want to wait until I see what the talented Beshka and her contributors share in the free class you get when you purchase the kit.  All that info can be found HERE.

I will be doing some updates to my work space in the next few months as well.  My dear friends Clayton and Winif are building me a custom desk.  Here's my inspiration, found on THIS blog:

My desk will be a bit bigger with thicker legs and shelves beneath.  I absolutely cannot wait!

Ok, now to mark a few things off my to-do before preschool pick up!

Have a great day, my friends :)

Gossamer Blue Story

|
I've been on a bit of a mixed media kick lately.  I love the look of watercolor backgrounds, added texture with pastes and making my photos pop with gelatos.  The Dear Lizzy Documentary collection pairs well with the mixed media vibe, so I used items from the October Gossamer Blue kits to create this Story layout.

I started with Ranger Texture paste and a stencil to add the tiny stars to my background.  After that dried I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors to get the dreamy background.

The Dear Lizzy sticker below the photo was the inspiration for the page; my sister captured this photo of the girly reading while we were at our Mom's house.  Isn't it a perfect fit?

The My Mind's Eye decorative brad helps define the journaling.  And those glitter Thickers? Delicious!

Gossamer Blue Everyday

|
Hello!  I have another layout created with the Gossamer Blue October kits!  This page features the Scrapbook Main Kit, Main Kit Add-on and Add-on #2.  I loved the graphic nature of the Dear Lizzy paper with the watercolor leaves.  The scrapbook kits flew off the shelves this month, but the Bits & Pieces kit, Life Pages Main Add-on and Life Pages Add-on #3 are still available HERE!  Tons of goodness in those kits, too.

I used a stencil from the Crafter's Workshop and Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors to get the mixed media look, outlining the feathers from the stencil with a black pen after they dried.  I did some layering with notched paper strips from the kits behind the photos.  I've been on a black and white photo kick lately and really love doing some mixed media on my background paper to make the photos stand out.

Hope your day is happy and filled with smiles and laughter :)

Hello and Happy Tuesday!  This is my first Christmas project of the season and I have to say that I rather enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit! Using the Dear Santa Line from Photo Play Paper did make getting into the holidays really easy.  Now there is something you need to know about me... I am a recovered grinch.  That's right, Christmas used to make me grumpy.  But having a kiddo sure changes that and fast!  I'll share more on my reformed ways and appreciation for Christmas in the future, but in the meantime, read the how-to and see the project list for this Christmas layout HERE.

Gossamer Blue Card and Gift Package

|
Hey Everyone!  Happy Gossamer Blue Reveal Day!  My first project with the delicious October kits was for my dear friend Rebekah, who just celebrated a major milestone birthday. I wanted to make her a fun card and cute up the the gift packaging, so I used the October Bits & Pieces Kit from Gossamer Blue to add some tags and labels, as well as the 6x6 paper pad for the card.

The card base is Neenah Solar White and I used Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle dies to cut the layering papers.  I cut down a baseball card page protector for the shaker and used my Fuse tool to create some wonky lines when sealing it closed.  The washi and labels are included in the October Bits & Pieces kit.  Other supplies used:

  • Mama Elephant Make a Wish stamp set
  • Sequins from Studio Calico and Lawn Fawn
  • Bow Die from Papertrey Ink
  • Twine by The Twinery
  • Paper Smooches Alphalicious stamps
  • Chevron Sack
While I'm primarily a scrapper, card making is another hobby of mine and I also really enjoy making cute packaging, so I tend to give gifts that I can fit in the paper sacks from Hobby Lobby :)

Check out the beautiful kits from Gossamer Blue by clicking HERE.  Lori put together some lovely kits for October, there's a definite Fall feel, but the range of products goes far beyond only Fall projects.

I would love it if you would join me in the Delight in the Details class at Gossamer Blue!  Enroll HERE and you won't miss a single detail.  So far we have covered background stamping and watercolor backgrounds, there's still so much info to cover in the four week class, I'll see you in the classroom!
