An Update | What's New

|
Hey Everyone!

I know I usually have at least 3-4 posts a week with new layouts and scrap stuff, but this week got away from me.  I've been working on Design Team projects and a few just-for-me layouts, the girly started pre-school and I decided to pursue something else.

Nope, not quitting scrapping!  I jumped in to the world of Jamberry.  I used to do gel mani's every two weeks and last winter my husband and I needed to re-evaluate our financial lives.  So I stopped doing the mani's.

And boy did I miss them.

I love the look of painted nails, and I love short painted nails.  They look so neat and put together and I think it's just so sassy.  My nails don't grow that great (they tend to get a tear, this is probably from years of being a nail biter) so short nails it is.  A friend recently had a Facebook party for Jamberry and the consultant (who is also a friend) shared lots of info on selling the wraps, polishes and gels.  I thought on it for a week and went for it.  And I love it.

The idea of a manicure costing under $3.00, that I can change them as easy as pie and that the wraps look good on short nails totally floats my boat.  And the staying power!  As a crafter who dabbles in mixed media my hands are constantly being washed to remove gesso, texture paste and spray inks.  And don't even get me started on how often I wash hands with a 4 year old in my life ;)

My blog will continue to be about scrapping, but now there will be a few mani and pedi posts thrown in the mix.  I'm not going to try and sell Jamberry here because honestly, if you try them, you'll fall in love with them too.  A few long-distance friends have asked for tips and maybe even a video, so I'll toss a few random posts in here and there.

My consultant page is here:  Jill Keller Jamberry I'm happy to mail samples, just send me an email with your mailing address and I'll share the Jamberry love with you!

And just for fun, here's the kiddo on her first day of school :)

Be happy!

Pretty Little Studio | Oakley Avenue

The most perfect and cute and amazing collection is available for pre-order from Pretty Little Studio. Oakley Avenue is designed by the talented and kind Ashley Horton, designer and owner of The Cut Shoppe.

Can we talk about that little fox?  The multi-colored leaves?  And all those arrows?  I am bananas for this entire collection!

This is my favorite paper:

And of course I love the flair!  Here's just one of the 5(!) sets available.

Orders starting shipping on September 24th, get your pre-orders in now!

Hip Kit Club | Loved This

|
I have to be honest, I don't get the donut thing.  I'm about 100% sure I've never used a donut on a layout.

That being said, I'm working towards being more..... random.  I'm not a theme scrapper.  I like eclectic and funky.  So here's to using a donut on a page, finally!

This is a photo from Mardi Gras taken by my ultra-talented friend Rebekah.  Our friend Sasha loves a theme and when we made lunch plans on Mardi Gras, Sasha showed up with all sorts of Mardi Gras fun for the kids!

The gold glitter washi is from the August Gossamer Blue kits, and the tiny alpha's are an old Glitz Design sticker sheet I've had for ages.

The ampersand totally moved and I didn't realize it until the photos were taken.  Here's to being random!

Donuts for the win ;)

Hip Kit Club | Wonderful

|
It's no secret I adore the files from The Cut Shoppe.  This scallop background is a bunch of fun and I had to buy it and use it immediately.

I used Amy Tangerine products from August Hip Kit Club kits, I love that striped background paper. The yellow twinkle dots are from my stash.

I wanted to use all three photos in this series so I printed them tiny; I know this drives some people crazy but scrapping for me right now is about the creating and using up stuff.  I want to get more stuff on my pages and have a fun page, all at once.  It's just where I am right now.

I added in black thread to tie in the black brush script, along with a few black splatters.  This page is just a big pile of color!

Go big or go home ;)

Hip Kit Club | Hello Adorable Girls

|
My friend Sasha took this photo of our girls when we were on a lunch date.  It's incredibly sweet.

I used Crate Paper and Dear Lizzy products on this page, the cut file is an exclusive from Hip Kit Club.

You'll be seeing a lot of those Thickers on upcoming pages, I really really like them.

Wood veneer alphas in a fun font!  I used Shimmerz No Yolking to color them.

Mr. Huey's black spray ink to add a bit of contrast and to tie in the other black elements.

I decided to cut the edge from the cut file and adhere it in two pieces, just to change things up.  Not a new idea, just something I haven't done in a long time.

Stay adorable ;)

Hip Kit Club | Live Simply

|
I tried something a bit different for me on this layout with August kits from Hip Kit Club.  Instead of smooshing with spray inks I decided to use Prima watercolor pencils to add in a bit of color here and there.

I used a water brush pen to doodle a bit, adding a few intersecting lines for some additional interest on the background paper.  No gesso this time, and the paper didn't warp much because of the limited water.

The result was a bit of soft color which I think makes the fussy cut flowers stand out a bit more.  I especially love the delicate spatter I got from flicking my water brush against the pencils.  So soft and girly, even though I used black.

I added a random flair from my stash because it was sitting on my desk and the colors worked ;)

Live simply.

Fancy Pants | My Family My Crazies

|
Hello!  I had a comment on Facebook asking how I made my Wonderful World layout using a Gossamer Blue cut file, so I made a super quick process video!

Backing cut files is very easy, especially when it's large pieces like this one.

The family card is one I've had in my Silhouette library for years.  I finally used it!

Looking at this layout now, I think the title gets a bit lost.  But it's completed and another memory is in the books.

Thanks for watching the video and stopping by my blog today.

Hope your weekend is fab :)

Gossamer Blue | Homie Love

|
When my girly was a tiny little thing, she referred to our NY Yankees gnome as "home."  And she carried that thing around like a baby doll.

The Bloom & Grow line from Simple Stories seems like it was made for my girly and her love of the home.  I received all of these items in the August kits from Gossamer Blue.

I used my Silhouette to sketch the Open Your Heart cut file from The Cut Shoppe, also cutting the file to fill in the stitched hearts.

I used tons of die cuts and chipboard on this page, collecting items from the Life Pages Add-on and Main Add-on to add some whimsy to my layout.

I used wood grain stickers from my stash for the title.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Citrus Twist Kits | Voila!

|
I fell in love with the color story from Citrus Twist July kits.

I started with a cut file from Just Nick Studio, and yes, it took a bit of time to back those squares!  But the end result makes it worth all the glue stuck to my fingers.

I have had these photos for a while, wanting something just right to showcase the pix of my girly and her Nana.  Nana always has the most amazing things to do at her house, even peanut butter sandwiches are amazing at Nana's!

I did lots of soft layers behind the photos, adding in some of the cut apart labels and teensy wood veneer exclusives from Citrus Twist.

Periwinkle puffy stickers by Pinkfresh Studio.  Wow.

A sweet and girly page to celebrate my kiddo and her Nana!

Have a sweet and lovely day!

Gossamer Blue | Camp Life

Those August kits from Gossamer Blue have really rocked me!

This page is another one inspired by my friend Rebekah and her fabulous adventure this summer. Aren't her kiddo's adorable?

I started this page with a super thin layer of white gesso, then added in some Shimmerz for a bit of color.  I used this adorable cut file from The Cut Shoppe to back the photo.

I've been working so hard at killing my kits, but Gossamer Blue is so generous each month!  Even though I've made a ton of layouts this month I've still got plenty left.

This is another page using the photo overlays as an embellishment, I'm digging that coppery gold color.  The banner is adorable and I can proudly say I have used up that package!

The wood veneer happy came from my stash, but the rest of the page is all GB.

Get yer scrap on ;)
