Shimelle | Captured This

|
Cut files and hand stitching make me happy.

Even when I've been stitching on a layout for what feels like for-ev-er.

The floral file is from Paper Issues, one of the many free files you can find in their store.

I picked up the Shimelle Go Now Go line in some Gossamer Blue kits and also purchased a few items as well.

I started by cutting the florals on my Silhouette, figured out the placement and adhered them down. Next was hand-stitching with white floss around the perimeter and inside most of the cut outs.

I added several stickers and the large camera die cut, using the sentiment as my title.  Next I added a few strips of washi to the left of the photo for some balance on the layout.

I think this pink bunny is soooo cute!  Had to include him on this whimsical page.

Take note ;)

Gossamer Blue | April Weekend

|
This photo is special.  Three generations of dirt diggers and Grammy's greenhouse.

I'm sure I've scrapped it before, but I don't care.

I wanted it to be a special page so I used the foiled paper by Shimelle in the April Gossamer Blue kits.

I started by cutting a wide strip of the Shimelle paper and adding it on the white cardstock.  I considered sewing it to the page but opted against it.

Next I used several of the Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper Oasis die cuts in the Main Kit to mat the photo.

I used exclusive wood veneer for the title.  I placed the word April right on the photo then attached the Weekend banner pieces below.

A few more tiny embellishments and gold splatters added to the overall look of this page.

Celebrate!

Emma's Paperie | Hey Hey Hey

|
Today is my day over on the Emma's Paperie blog!  Please head on over to check out my latest layout.

Gossamer Blue | This Baby

|
Ohhhhhh I love my fringe scissors.  Love.  They are perfect for using up scraps of paper and making them into their own little party.

This page started with some very thin layers of white acrylic paint and then I went fringe crazy.  I cut varying widths of papers, fringed, then machine-stitched them to my page.

This style will work for just about any layout for any subject.

I added my title with the Main Kit Thickers from Gossamer Blue, right over my fringes.

The photo was adhered with foam adhesive for a bit of dimension, then I tucked in Maggie Holmes die cuts from the April Main Kit.

A few more die cuts tucked here and there with a few small embellishments from the Life Pages and Planner kits.  I left all the threads hanging, just cutting them a bit shorter for more texture.

This baby!  I miss her, but love my 5 yr old soooooooo much.

Gossamer Blue | You Make Me Happy

|
I mentioned earlier this month that I have some Gossamer Blue layouts that are a mix of March and April kits, so here's another!  If you haven't killed those March kits I think you'll find that they pair perfectly with the April products.

This layout is unique for me in that it has 4 photos and I did the paper piecing and title at an angle.  I never do angles!  There have been quite a few pages that have caught my eye lately, especially from Missy Whidden, who does an angle like a pro.

I just started cutting strips of March and April papers and laying them out on the background paper from the April kit.  I like the punches of color from the March papers against the more subtle papers in April.

I used several embellishments from the April Planner kit, and the title is a mix of April Thickers and March alphas.

I sewed through the wood veneer with my machine, hand-cranking the needle just to be safe.

I contemplated sewing down all the paper strips but felt like it would have been lost on this layout.  It also saved me a ton of time ;)

Good Times,
xoxo

Process Video #43 | Traveler's Notebook

|
I have another process video below and on my YouTube channel HERE.  This time I shared some thoughts while working in my Traveler's Notebook, and hopefully I give you some pointers for yours.

I used embellishments from Gossamer Blue's April kits along with Crate Paper Oasis collection + some washi from my stash.

I don't think I could enjoy working in TN's more than I already do.  It's a fast process for me, and such an easy way to document daily life.  I'm not sure if I would quit doing 12x12 pages and work solely in TN's, but I have to say doing these little notebooks makes me just as happy as a full layout. I know a few girls who aren't doing 12x12's anymore and it's something I really do think about.... but for now I'll keep this as my weekly, chronological memory keeping.

Do what makes YOU happy!

Emma's Paperie | Happy Birthday

|
That Joy Parade line from Fancy Pants is utter perfection.

I have a new layout on the Emma's Paperie blog today, the focus this week is on Sequins and I used tons of'em from Doodelbug.

I poked holes to give the balloons some strings and used floss for bows; I find these little touches make my pages even more special.

Turning 5 was such an amazing day for my girly.  This layout sums it up perfectly.

A few Mini Keys by Ken Oliver and a couple Mini Resin Mums made for the perfect accents on this page.

Q&A with....

|
It's another Q&A session with me!  I'm answering questions from my friend Lauren about choosing photos for my layouts and scrapping chronologically.....

(No.  No to scrapping chronologically!)

I'm having such fun doing the Q&A videos, please submit some questions so I can keep this going! If you would like to do your own Q&A video, give me a shout out and I'll help you get it all ready to go.

Stay silly,
xoxo

Q&A with.... Tracy Perrett!

|
My friend Tracy agreed to do a Q&A video with me!  Please ignore the horrible angle, I had no idea how bad this angle is for me, bahahahhahaa!

YouTube and their 15 minute cut off made me split this into two parts.  In the next segment Tracy shares valuable tips for taking project photos and I talk quickly about lighting in my videos.

Happy Friday!

Gossamer Blue | Yay!

|
Well hello!

I have a few layouts this month that are a mix of March and April kits from Gossamer Blue.  First up is this fun Yay! layout.

Funny story:  I actually started this layout last month and completely forgot about it.  HAHA!  The cut file is from Paper Issues and I really wanted to use it with the fun paper from Shimelle's latest line.  And I guess I just forgot I had it because I went to pull out my March GB kits and there it was!

I added some embellishments from the April kits to finish up this page, including the phrase stickers and some of the chipboard.

The wood veneer has some Heidi Shine, it's an exclusive from the April Main kit.

I find the phrase stickers from Maggie Holmes work for most every layout.  Love how versatile they are.

Be Happy!
xoxo
