Gossamer Blue | December Memories

Hey Guys!  I have a little write-up on my December Memories approach on the Gossamer Blue blog today!

Happy Holidays!

DM 15 Completed

|
Who's ready for a ton of photos?  I completed my DM last night and wanted to get this baby on the books before the end of 2015.  Here we go:

I added the acrylic word "december" from the Gossamer Blue kit after my initial pics.

Lots of half size inserts in this album, several pages of 3x8 pocket pages tucked in here and there.

I also really like adding a 4x6 photo straight into the album, no pocket.

I trimmed the sheet of cork pieces to fit in a 3x4 pocket, love the see-thru element.

I also did a few 4x8 pages made from cutting down a larger pocket page.

I added our Christmas card straight into the album, sans pocket, and added an exclusive chipboard piece right on it.

I had to save Miss Q's gift tag from her preschool teacher :)  I just looped it right on a binder ring.

Day 18 was rough!  Instead of HO HO HO we had a lot of OH OH OH :(

My favorite way to use the epoxy sticker candy canes was to form a heart.

I kept it so simple this year-added some word stickers to photos but not a ton of embellishing.

I repeated "25" a lot on the Christmas Day spreads.

The end!  I started with a "K" on the title page and ended with one here, too.

Because I didn't create any 6x8 pages this year, I've got many sheets of exclusive papers left over, but I plan to use those on a Christmas layout or two.  I used almost all of the embellishments and would have loved an additional sheet of the Gossamer Blue chipboard shapes!  I have a ton of alpha's left but those are easy enough to use up.  I found the flag stickers intended for the planner pages to be a great embellishment when paired with the stamp set.  Overall, this is one of the best December Memories Kits Gossamer Blue has offered!  I'm already looking forward to the 2016 kit :)

DM 15 Days 1-9

|
Hi!  I've got my Gossamer Blue December Memories Album to share today, more specifically days 1-9.  Let's jump right in!

I had a different approach before I started adding the photos to my album, you can read all about it HERE.  As always, my plans and the execution are two completely different things, and I'm totally ok with that.  I have a few inserts so far and I'm sure there will be several more.  I'm letting the photos speak for themselves, adding an embellishment or two with stickers and my Tiny Attacher here and there.

Confession:  Day 7 I forgot to take a photo.  Fortunately, I saw that hilarious pic posted on IG by Becky at The Rusted Chain, and it totally saved my bacon!

Some photos were taken by my sweet and talented friend Rebekah Baier and some taken by my dear friend, the selfie stick queen, Sasha.

How's your December Memories Album going?

DM 15, Plans

|
I've really put some thought into this year's December Memories album, taking into consideration things I loved in the past, things that didn't work so great, and reality.  Reality is this:  I want this year's album to have more detail on the pages, which means I need to do less pages.  As of now here is my plan:

  • Days 1-25 only
  • One page per day
  • Use 6x4 cards as inserts
  • Use photos as inserts
  • See-through and Fused pockets
  • No 6x8 pages
While this is my plan, I'm open to plans changing based on need/daily life/events attended.  The best piece of advice I can offer anyone who does a December Memories Album is to keep an open mind and remain flexible.  Otherwise you can end up very frustrated!

I spent a lovely Sunday afternoon with two of my creative (and very dear) friends and worked out some of my process for this album, finalizing my plan and coming up with the number cards to designate the days.  I like one aspect of continuity in my mini albums so this year the number cards are all the same.  I used the Pink Paislee red foil numbers, Simple Stories word stickers and Paislee Press for Gossamer Blue exclusive word stickers.

I cut down 6 sheets of the 6x8 Gossamer Blue papers to 3x4, then adhered the foil numbers and different stickers to the cards.

My favorite cards are the most simple; just the numbers and a single sticker!  I especially love the stickers stapled with my Tiny Attacher.

So that's my plans in a nutshell!  Can't believe December first is next week already; not to brag, but I'm already done with my Christmas shopping ;)

Share your plans for December Memories, and make sure you keep checking in on the DM class if you enrolled (and you still can enroll!).  Beshka and friends really put together a tips-packed class with tons of ideas to scraplift.

DM 15 cover + title page

|
Hello!

I finally got busy on my Gossamer Blue December Memories album over the weekend.  I painted several layers of white acrylic paint on the cover, then added some silver washi and a doily from my stash, adding another layer of paint over the top of those.  The wood veneer 25 and Noel are from the kit, covered in white paint and adhered.

My title page is a 2x2 Simple Stories page from the DM kit.  I added sequins and embossing powder from my stash (No glitter?  Use embossing powder!).  To keep the acrylic pieces on my page I used some gold thread and stitched them right to the page protector.  The acetate K is from an older Gossamer Blue kit (from Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper).  2x2 kit cards finished off the page after fusing my see-thru pockets shut.

I'll have my number cards on the blog later this week!
