Laurel Lane Guest DT

|
This is my final post in my guest spot for the Laurel Lane Design Team.  I am bananas for Laura's printables!!!  I strongly suggest you check out her Etsy shop HERE, and grab a few of the amazing kits she has for sale.
This pocket letter (PL) features Dear Lizzy papers from my stash (from an older Gossamer Blue kit), mixed in with washi, punched butterflies, Maggie Holmes and Heidi Swapp elements.  The beauty of PL's is using up your stash in a way that spreads some happy to a new friend!
This is a chipboard butterfly from Maya Road that I heat embossed.  I embossed two more of these butterflies and included them in the PL as goodies.  The sequins are adhered with micro glue dots and the butterfly is on the outside of the pocket, backed by a Laurel Lane Card that I inked.
Another Laurel Lane Designs card with Distress Markers smooshed on top.  My favorite way to use Distress Inks and Markers is as watercolors.
This PL uses Maggies Holmes Project Life cards that I trimmed to fit in the pockets.  Again, this is a mix of items from my stash including the typewriter stamp from Mama Elephant, Dear Lizzy stickers and embellies and a Gossamer Blue exclusive embossed stamp image (Happy Camper).
I think this Laurel Lane card is one of my favorites, I love the sentiment!
Huge thanks to Laura Rahel for letting me guest DT this month!  I had so much fun working with your fabulous/lovely/just-plain-awesome products!  You're a doll :)

Pages, just because

I have not 1, not 2 but THREE lovely Carta Bella Paper projects to share today!  First up is a photo from my wedding, when the hubs and his band did a special performance just for little 'ol me :)

I used the Rustic Elegance kit for this page, punching confetti bits with a EK Success punch and adhering them down here and there on the page.  Major glue fingers and I stuck to everything for a minute, but worth it for the fun look on the page.  I added a few gold paper clips from my stash to give the page a bit more edge.  Apologies for blowing out a few of the stickers in the photo, I messed with my camera settings and can't get them back the way I would like.

Next up is sweet Liam!  My friend Rebekah (please read her blog HERE) hosted a playdate this past winter and I caught this moment when Liam was watching out the big picture window.  I used a Silhouette file and took out some of the cut lines to get the page background the way I wanted.  I used papers from the Boy Oh Boy collection and sequins from my stash along with an Ali Edwards cut file for the title.

Last is a page featuring the girly and her hatred of birthday cake!  Ok, she doesn't hate cake, but she hates cake tipping over in her lap!

Love these photos by Tracy Perrett!  I had to include a Bella Blvd feather to mimic Miss Q's fancy headband, and what birthday page isn't complete without sequins?!?!?  The papers are from the precious Baby Mine collection.  The pat-a-cake card fit perfectly with the photos and I used Silhouette files for the 1 circle and scallop and turned it into a rosette ribbon by notching the ends of some scraps.  Another Silhouette file was used for the title, off set with gray card stock.

These are photos I've had ready for scrapping for a while, but was waiting for the right papers to come along :)

Keep on keepin' on, friends!

Gossamer Blue: Q & U

A final layout using the Gossamer Blue July kits.  I'm pretty sure I've scrapped at least one of these photos before, but they really get me in a sentimental way, so I used them again on this layout.

The chalkboard alpha's needed to be softened up a bit for this page so I used a white pencil to scribble on them.  I love the feather paper by Crate Paper, and I used some exclusive Life Pages cards from GB to mat the photos.

My heart!  My heart.

Happy Tuesday!  I've got a Simple Stories layout on the A Walk Down Memory Lane blog featuring my go-to style.  The I AM Collection is the perfect match for this page about my girly.  Click HERE to read the how-to.

Gossamer Blue: Every Picture

|
The July Gossamer Blue kits are FULL of bright, cheerful summer colors, but I really wanted a soft look for this page so I grabbed the vellum pieces from the  kit and papers from the kit.  This is a super simple layout featuring the Life Pages card, the sentiment spoke to me and I thought it fit this photo of the girly wearing her big girl undies last summer.  For some reason this kiddo says no to pants in the summertime!  I say wear your undies with pride girl, one day you won't have the luxury of undies only on the front porch.

The stamp set from the Life Pages kit is absolutely fabulous.  I've used it repeatedly for pocket letters and am still finding other ways to use it.  I think Mish Wooderson really knocked it out of the park for the July kits.  I would love it if you would read her blog, she's a fellow Kansas girl who just does it right.  I adore her.

I have had a BLAST making  pocket letters with the Laurel Lane Designs cards!  I love the sentiments, black font on white, it's a total clean slate and the possibilities are endless.  I opted to use Distress Inks on the cards for a watercolor effect.

The Laurel Lane cards say Hello Love and Love (repeated).  I printed them on (cheap) card stock purchased from a big box store and smooshed the inks right on top and zapped with my heat gun. Very little warping or piling.  The rest of the pocket letter came from a Simon Says Stamp card kit featuring Doodlebug papers and epoxy stickers.  The letters spelling FUN are a Gossamer Blue exclusive cut file from the July kits.

Sequins finished off this happy summer PL and it was off to the recipient!

Hello Everyone!  Happy Tuesday :)  I made a process video for A Walk Down Memory Lane blog, please click HERE to watch or scroll down to the end of this post.  I think the layout about Miss Q's fairy garden is perfectly girly in every way!

Gossamer Blue July Blog Hop

|

Hello!  You should have arrived here from the dazzling Heather Leopard's blog, and I just want to say thanks for hopping along with the Gossamer Blue Design Team today!

I'm sharing a Pocket Letter I created using the July Bits & Pieces kit, Life Pages and Life Pages Main Add-on Kits.  I cut the pocket cards from the Pink Paislee 6x6 paper pad, saving the scraps to stamp phrases and icons from the exclusive stamp set in the LP Main Kit.  The photo below shows the front of the PL with some close-ups of the stamping.  The LP stamp set is probably the most used stamp set I have right now!

The hello stamp is from my stash, along with the sequins and ribbon scraps.  When I do a lot of stamping on a PL I like to include extra stamped images for the receiver so they can use them in a future pocket letter.

This photo shows the back of the PL with goodies in the pockets. There are a few more close-ups of the stamping plus the final product, all folded up and ready for mailing.  I like to include a stitched tag with the recipient's name and this time I used a tag from my stash plus a Pink Paislee tag to dress up the outside of the pocket letter.

Keep hopping along to Joy's blog HERE!

I made a bright and cheery Pocket Letter using the Laurel Lane Designs Bright Kit (purchase HERE), created by the stunning Laura Rahel.  Other supplies used:

I used Distress Markers to smoosh inks onto the printed Bright Kit cards, which I trimmed down to 2.5 x 3.5 inches to fit the PL pockets.  Lots of embellishing in the form of the Shimelle, Evalicious and Pink Paislee stickers and die cuts from the July Gossamer Blue kits.

Gossamer Blue: Cut File Mini Album

I'm up on the Gossamer Blue blog with a mini album created using the July exclusive cut files, Main Kit and Bits & Pieces kit.  I loved making this mini!  Read all about it HERE.

Laurel Lane DT Guest Spot

If you haven't read Laura's blog I suggest you stop everything and go HERE right now.  Laura writes from her soul, makes super adorable fun stuff and is just the cutest lil' thing you'll ever lay eyes on. She is on the Gossamer Blue Design Team with me and also has an Etsy shop HERE with some awesome downloads for Life Pages.

I am doing a guest DT spot for Laurel Lane this month and wanted to share how I'm using the Bright Kit for pocket pages.  I started by printing the downloads on card stock (this is just the super light stuff I purchased at my local big box discount store) on my Canon Pixma 7120.  The downloads come with cut lines (takes out the guess work!) so I trimmed them up, easy-peasy.  I wanted to add some color to the cards so I used my Distress Markers, a clear acetate piece and water bottle to do some smooshing.

Surprisingly, the paper didn't fall apart!  I think using the smooshing technique limits the amount of water that comes into contact with the paper, and I used a heat gun between layers so the water wasn't sitting for too long on each card.

I am a huge fan of pocket letters (read about them HERE) and thought the Bright kit would work great for PL's.  This is the first PL I created using Laura's kit.

Don't the cards work perfectly?

Happy 4th of July to my US friends!

Gossamer Blue: Go Everywhere

|
The Gossamer Blue July Kits went live on the 1st and lucky for you, there's still a handful available!  I made this layout using the Main Kit and the Main Kit Add-on (sold out).  My darling niece, the sweet Shelby girl, will be heading off to college this August.  She's ah-may-zing.  This page is my favorite featuring the July Kits.

I used Pink Paislee's Atlas collection along with some Shimelle, Crate Paper and Evalicious items. These kits are some kind of awesome, I have to be honest.  Normally I get overwhelmed using bold colors but after using the July Kits I'm totally expanding what I use on my pages.

My advice to you--get a kit or two from Gossamer Blue this month.  The color palette will be perfect for girls or boys, and the embellishments can be used about a hundred different ways.  Check out what the DT girls cooked up HERE.

Feeling Inspired...
Jill
